Hello Orbilites,
(begin) I decided upon this blog title; not for the enjoyment of Horace's poem in and of itself, as for some it will be too lengthy, but for reasons of loquaciousness [loh-kwey-shuh,s-ness] - a trait of mine, sometimes -- and i love the word 'ars'.
Ahead ~ links to two very different translations of Horace's 'Ars Poetica'.
Ars Poetica 1
Ars Poetica 2
I am an avid reader of all literature; writer of poetry, and have been recently dabbling again in art (paint and pen). I am passionate about all-things-artistry. My goal is to bring others together to creatively chew-the-fat about Literature, Poetry (I must say here that free verse and short form are my preference), Art and Music (with links where possible), and no doubt Philosophy and Quotes will come into the mix. Classic and Contempory poets will arrive and be presented at this here tea-party, often.
Poetry to me is about saying whatever-tf you want, in any form or way you so desire. It's one of the less popular contemporary arts, but still, the way one sees their world and others, can't be a bad thing through my rose coloured glasses. My desire to write and share in all of the above, is the reason i'm here; also to meet other writers, artists and souls of like ilk. Forgive me if i undulate between long sentences with too many parenthesis', or line break a lot or break into poetics, i can't help it. The more i write, hopefully i will improve upon that.
That's enough about me, for now, you will get to know me as you read my blog and quickly gather that I have in-sanic tendencies, am human, sub-human, am damned and saved, and suffer from lapses in mentality to various degrees ~ the curse of the artist mayhaps, if i may call myself one for the purpose of this exercise.
I write for no audience; but i do hope to be interesting enough for you to come back. Oh and if i dissappear for a while, it means my 3gb-left, unstable, much-like-it's-user, computer, has finally crashed, and i'm saving up.
~
I am what I am
and what i am
is my own creation....
(what a load of bullshit / codswallop!!)
