Ars Poetica - by Lily

Double Boom

November 30th 2007 23:50
Take it away
away, take it

this is the pebble
the pebble in my shoe
there’s room for more
more madness and undone
trusts, more outrageous
felicities

driver, lose me before
I remember that I am lost
lost among the fishers of hate
yes, the night is young, carrions
and we have a party to (dis)grace

the almighty holder of stupors
has requested our attendance

we have shed our delayed skin
and our flesh doesn’t matter
any more, our spirit is
under the spell of chaos
and we have no baggage

don’t lick at me with a honey tongue
give me the resurrection sting of bees

maybe I’ll fall deeply in love
you may just be the last

take it away
away, take it

~Lily, sweet...

I loved these lines...

don’t lick at me with a honey tongue
give me the resurrection sting of bees

Hope all's well,

omg... great stuff, Lily! I won't go all analytical on you - I tend to get that way when I read things I really like and I usually end up boring people to tears .

Hope all is still well .

Rusty.

ooh... don't tempt me, Lily... well, I'll try to be succinct. I like how the first and last lines are the same but have different tones. The poem starts off with such dark tension and as I get to the end, it feels hopeful - but then I wonder, is it just me being hopeful? The meaning of the poem changes when I read it again. I just really like the ambiguity. I know I've more than likely interpreted your poem wrong, but that's what I felt when I read it.

Rusty, it gives me a lot of pleasure when someone does what you just did. I know poetry can be hard to reply to at times. It can be like trying to explain how red makes you feel. i often analyze and reflect on a poem, but to convey to the poet who wrote it, what my reflections and feelings were upon reading, can be like trying to catch the wind. So thanks for taking the time to find your expression.
