Ars Poetica - by Lily

Love within the Emblem

November 25th 2006 04:05
Walking, hand in hand
with my lover divine
the road spread open
before us, my fingers
warm as the blood
rushes to his touch,
we sat down under
natures canopy
long armed cypresses
overlooking the bay
and there he kissed me
i fell into the well of his
eyes as the thunderclouds
rolled overhead roaring
songs of strength and rain

she brought the chalice
to his lips and beckoned
him to drink; slowly
he sups from her cup
eyeing the ruby that sat
over her heart; dragons
slain for such jewels,
a red trickle glides down
his chin, she lets out an
oooh, dabbing it with her
snow white handkerchief
he sups some more as
birds glide over blood red
poppies; free of binds

I found it in the forest
it had her name embroidered
and I carried it for days
close to my heart
searching

Then I found her
poisoned apple sleeping
I gave her the kiss of life
she softly awakened
sleepylidded

She called me prince charming
but I was neither
just a simple poet
wandering the forest
who got lucky

when i lost my
snow white handkerchief
i prayed it would fall
into loving hands

my mother had woven
love within the emblem
and asked me 'you wouldn't
even be happy with a prince
would you?' i despaired at
her vision.

i wandered many forests
eating of apples that enticed
with lush and juice, and slept
a hundred life times...

We made love within the Emblem
the gentle rocking of the waves
made it feel like
the ocean
loved us too

a supernova emblem
rocking the rhythm of tide
soothing us completely
in the ocean of being
there is no weight here
just licks of light
and eyes of night
bathing our lonely
in the bows of moon mesh

A supernova emblem
at the core of my being
ignites my soul to fusion
and leads my eyes to seeing
the infrared of heartlove
dispelling all confusion
ecstatic in the motion
of the ultimate explosion

i meet your ruby gaze within
the wild spectrum
within the freedom of deep space
electric seas of prisms and colours
even rainbows only dream of
worlds meeting worlds
in the cosmic splash
your multiverses paint
my heart in nova love
oh sublime brush

Bathe my heart in nova love
wash my soul in faerie tears
sprinkle me with pixiedust
burn away my darkest fears

In the silence, speak to me
with a voice both pure and true
kiss me gently, everywhere
make my spirit soar anew

Let us walk beside the lake
in these mortal avatars
give and give and give again
let us fly amongst the stars

i did say 'the best kind' oui? -- elegance isn't always required... your seep, as you call it, is refreshing....

time for blankets and a golden ass (book)
nighty nights from moi, see you around, Sisi

Not sure which drew me in more, the image or the imagery in the words.

Two halves, one whole - beautiful poetry in motion.

ok, i gotta admit, the picture of the nebula made me click on this particular entry, but im really glad i did. very well written lily. may i ask you why you write poetry? do you write for the beauty of its form when its completed? to you write to feel something? do you write to get others to sense, to touch what you are feeling? do you write to understand your own thoughts or heart? or perhaps something completely different?

Wendi, i think the two compliment each other, as the flight did... thanks for your seeing eyes into my... deep space...

ChrisM, welcome to Ars Poetica.. i've been sitting here for a few minutes musing your questions.. i write for probably all of those reasons, but mainly i think because, i feel so much, perhaps too much for me to contain, and there is a need to form these feelings, to understand them, to share them and to touch the hearts of others.. what better way than to cut out the verbiage tthat clamours our minds and write essential poetry, besides language can be so beautiful ...it's a cold cold world, and my hope is to bring warmth, comfort and perhaps even an escape for refreshment, at least for a while... thank you for asking... not many do....

thank you lily. tis good to be here. i think i can identify with that somewhat, poetry has often provided me with solace or catharsis very early in the morning when i have feelings, nameless or otherwise, gnawing at me. your words seem to carry within them an inherint warmth, wonder and beauty, so i think you can be assured that your hope is being fufilled.

btw, thank you so much for the amazing post you wrote on my blog. she was really touched.

ChrisM,

your friend isn't a complete stranger, she is me 20ish years ago .. she needs to stay positive, this is the key... the majority of women recover..

so glad you will share your poetry; email address via Orble pigeon, in flight..

~Lily
