Lily ...

In Catholic circles, the sky is blue because it's Our Lady's colour ... (same reason the ocean is blue [when it's not green or grey ...

It's to remind the God-haters, man-haters, and "feminists" ... that, although the patriarchal Catholic God is Male... His love for his own creation (the creation 'female nature') takes precedent even over the love of His Only Son ... and means more to Him than the creation of the entire universe ... (So it's to remind humans that while He is male, He loves female nature as one of His greatest creations ... (Why do 'straight' men think they fall in love with women? ... God gave women all the right parts ... and implanted in male's minds a love of all those parts ... (exterior and interior) ... And gave males different parts ... [They're meant to be a perfect fit ...

Oh yeah ... a big bang happened and all of a sudden men and women appeared in all their intricate compexity? ... How did the elements that exploded in the big bang get there in the first place?

Oh yeah, we evolved from apes. Well Who put the apes there for us to evolve from?

Oh yeah, three thousands guys in Asia and Greece are God ... well how did they all get to be born in Asia and Greece, and how did Asia and Greece get to be where they are?

You'd have to read the writings of St Louis de Montfort to fully comprehend the apparent paradox in most of what I've written ... He's well worth the read ...

Oh, and in Catholic Circles? May is Our Lady's month ...

in my dreamy little world, the sky is blue because it's my favorite color, and the sky is the thing i love to look at most. <grins>

Lily mon cher,

Isn't the sky blue, becuase space is black?

It is the colour of communication though, whichever way you look at it... and it is seen by all as such, regardless of colour - well except for cloudy days.

Who knows, maybe it is the hem slip of a ladies nightie after all? Why not? I always thought that the stars in heaven were the holes in the floor of heaven, where the light shone through... but then one day I grew up... shame that... but I still like to think of them as such.

Maybe the sky is blue because someone painted it that way?

Evening Lily,

To quote Sandra Bullock in 28 Days...

Why is the sky blue? Because it reflects the ocean... why is the ocean blue? Because it reflects the sky...

~agrees with Lilla~ the sky is actually black but appears blue because of the light from the sun shining through the atmosphere... how boring is that? And just a reminder to us all... things are not what they seem....

Looks like you were standing in a lane of oncoming traffic!

Hope you are well Lily

A collective thank you...

I loved each comment, and the diversity of them all, just as there are many shades of blue... Miss Nomer, i liked yours the best...

i don't know why the sky is blue, i just know it feels like it couldn't be any other colour... and that it's mate is the sea...

I saw a red sky tonight. Crossed the stateline in time to catch a mind-blowing Kentucky sunset. Seriously... it was red. Stinkerbelle tried to take pictures of it from the back seat, but I haven't emptied my camera from the lastest batch of pics and I have a feeling the twilight pics won't have come out very good. The windows were a problem - the front windshield was covered in bugs (eeew!), and the plastic from the side windows reflected the light of the flash... but we'll see. Sometimes with pics ya get lucky...

I've also seen a purple sky, a pink sky, and an orange sky. When they all show up at once? I call it a Rainbow Sherbet Sky. *smiles*

smiles at you* .. I was waiting for someone to say, 'it's not aaaaalways blue.' I saw a completely purple sky once... a stormy sky with low full clouds.. the looming presence of this sky was tangible... i call it a 'something in the air' kinda sky...

Let's hope your twilight makes it through the lens, minus the bugs... (poor bugs lol)... sometimes things make it through despite the conditions...

Hope this finds you in peace dear of heart...

When the sky is this blue and beautiful, I'm not complaining!

Ash and Tammy both have beautiful sky pics up on their blogs with all sorts of perty sky colors.

I was right... my twilight pics didn't come out very good. Too many bugs on the windshield (icky).

And what totally sucks about that is I can wash the Jeep, but the first time I drive her to town, she comes back looking worse than before I washed her. I need to get one of those bug reflectors... jeeps are not very aerodynamic, so the bugs really don't stand a chance of over-shooting the windshield if they're in my path. Bleh.

It's about time for a Kentucky sunset right now as a matter of fact. I may go cop a squat on the front porch and enjoy a few minutes of it.

winters make the most spectacular sunsets.... the sky is starting to change now, the clouds become more wispy, the colours more burnt rather than glaring and stark like summer....sigh winter is such an amazing season...
